THINGS I did....I wasn't supposed to do....as an active JW
by Terry inon freeminds.org, randy w wrote this about himself:.
even as a strict jehovahs witness for eight years, i never once shunned or failed to speak to a disfellowshipped person.
it is simply cruel.

Will my grief ever end?...
by Lozhasleft inok so my youngest daughter (17) has been enveloped by her 'spiritual' older siblings and at the same time convinced that her mum is an evil disfellowshipped harlot.... its gutted me for the past 8 months ...i miss her dreadfully and worry so much about her...i thought she knew me better and that we had an unbreakable bond ....the things she's said to me in emails and texts have torn me apart and i cant keep going back for more...much as i love her i cant continue to be a punch bag...it would kill me to go through anymore abuse..... currently she's getting involved via facebook with some of my new hubby's family (not jws) ...i think there's trouble ahead..... loz x.

Changing of the Guard
by man in black ini work at a local community college, and for the past two years i would notice the witnesses had a table in a student area.. usually it would have 2-4 witnesses sitting there talking to each other, or yacking on their cell phones.. but the big attraction was the banner, it was long enough to cover two card tables end to end (12-15 feet).. it said "the watchtower and awake magazines" like that alone is going to attract students.... .
this afternoon i strolled by and noticed that they have a new banner.. white background with the words :why do we suffer" in bold letters.
i thought that was pretty strange..

How many meetings did you actually enjoy?
by nugget ini was talking to my husband and we were trying to work out how many meetings we actually came away from feeling enthused or excited by what we had heard.
not including pre and post meeting association how many wow moments can you recall?.
we had to conclude that most of the time in the organisation the meeting was something you endured.

I remember back in the 70s someone in our circuit went overseas to Jerusalem and the “Holy Lands” and the Sunday meeting was the slideshow of the pictures of their trip. I was just a kid at the time but I remember thinking how cool it was.
I disagree with 5thGen about being “content”. It’s like asking a caged bird if they are “content”. Yep, sure they are, because they’re getting fed and are safe from predators. But they’re not really free to enjoy life to the fullest.

concerning "morality" in the congregation, did you ever think "how do we have the nerve to judge "worldley " people ?
by looloo inwhen i was a study , at first i was really impressed with the high morals in the congregation and how "happy "everyone seemed , i eventually fell for a pioneer and commited adultery , which i felt and was made to feel the most wicked woman in the world for .
(i am married to him now ) but after i left i found out just how much had really been going on in the cong , there was one brother who had been having an affair for 5 years with a sister (he was married ) he only got reprooved and she was disfellowshipped !
i found out lots of people who wed in the hall had already done the "deed" child abuse had not been reported etc domestic violence situations , all though i am not in a position to judge "wrong doing " myself im amazed that so many in the cong had the nerve to look down on church goers "immorality " or "worldly people considering what they knew had gone on in the kingdom hall !.

However, coercing children to get baptized at age 6 under threat of being destroyed is wrong. Then, too often these children get on hounding calls--itself immoral. The subjects are usually things like questionable attitudes toward holidays or having "bad" songs. As if this fun-killing wasn't enough, a significant number of them are molested during these hounding calls and then silenced about it

I thought the Conventions were speed dating opportunities anyway - trying to get as many phone numbers and addresses (these days, emails) as you can during the breaks!
